American Football is a pretty intense game in and of itself. When guys like Reggie Bush dodge and weave offense like he’s threading a needle in an effortless display of badassery, one can only sit back and marvel. The closest feeling to that is getting an eyeful of Eyeshield 21.
And we all can appreciate sports as a tool for bringing out the alpha in us. And so does Sena Kobayakawa. More of the introverted type Sena is not the person you would associate with American Football. Nevertheless he gets coerced by Yoichi Hiruma to level up from club secretary to taking point on the field. And he shows out wearing an eyeshield and the number 21, his guise gaining him the pseudonym “Eyeshield 21“.
The theatrics and action is over the top, especially on the field. But that’s what we love. And at the end of the hundreds of episodes, you’ll definitely gain an appreciation for the game.
