Prime Video has been quite the busy sparrow as the first look of Kratos and Atreus for the upcoming God Of War Live-action series goes live. Prime teases that ‘their journey to the highest peak begins’, which would suggest it is at least taking the narrative cues from the recent rendition of the gaming franchise.

Kratos is set to be portrayed by actor  Ryan Hurst and actor Callum Vinson set to portray the young Atreus. And first look image, in first-look fashion, seemingly split GOW fans. And in all honesty I can sort of understand:

And while many debate the reason for initial discomfort or why the image does not work–from costume, colour of the fabrics, the bald cap, the look of the characters–I present the true reason. It’s the Kratos ‘stoop down’. Not a militaristic ‘take the knee’. It looks more like me when I have done 15 minutes on the treadmill and I question my life choices and feel like I am about to die, throw up, being out of breath and equally hungry.

But this all could be new-tv-series-of-our-favourite-IP-jitters. Like Henry Cavill’s first reveal as the Witcher. So I guess the real viable option we have is to trust the platform that brought us Invincible and the Melania documentary.
