8. Dying Light

If fear of the dark was something that terrified you as a child, or adult, then fear of the dark married to ravenous flesh-ripping zombies that run rather than crawl is true hell-on-earth. And as if trying to realise this, Dying Light brought our deep-seated fears to life. And the game also pointed out another thing… to survive to Zombie apocalypse, you’d have to be physical. Like the fit, parkour-type physical. One of the trademark elements of the game, you find your character could get out of some sticky situations as nothing was unreachable when you move like a monkey in this new jungle.
Through in the fact that Zombies explode in numbers and become more aggressive when night falls also drives home that a night in is sometimes the better option. It will have you trying to use your brain while being truly terrified at the same time. Weird mental space to be in.
And while we angrily shoved or joysticks in the direction of an insane path and curse the screen for our character fumbling a move, our chubby asses stay warming the sofa eating Cheetos and scratching our unmentionables. We so would survive in Dying Light.
