Smells like team spirit.

1. X-Men

If there were ever a team that would be championed as a true reflection of what we as humans should strive for, it is the story of the X-Men. The X-Gene ushers in a race of super-powered humans, known as mutants. And the X-Men is a group of these new links in the evolutionary chain, who use their gifts for the betterment of their own kind and the human race. The same human race that fears and loathes them. Think about that. Protecting the bigots that would otherwise have you strung up or killed. Vilified for merely existing. Glad there are no parallels to this in the real world. Whew.
The lessons of tolerance and the championing of social justice have been consistent themes in the X-Men over the decades and the X-Men
Led by the illustrious Professor X, the founding five members of the X-Men are Angel (Archangel), Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, and Marvel Girl (Jean Grey). Phoenix if you’re nasty. The everything changed for the better when the likes of Wolverine and Storm joined the fold.
[tps_footer]And there you have it! Our top ten list of comic book superhero teams. It is always good to remember despite the odd internal conflict and beef within these groups, it never a bad idea to bounce ideas off of and network with others for the greater good. Steel sharpens steel, as they say.
Our love for these superhero teams comes, I think, from our intrinsic love for complex, inter-dynamic relations between varied individuals. Mirroring our own connections with friends, family, acquaintances and our other varied teams and relationships. We build our own narratives too – who is good, evil, troubled, distant, welcoming…
All-in-all, as much as we romanticise the lone wolf and the black sheep, we all need that team effort once in a while to connect with the world and build something for the betterment of ourselves, mankind and the worlds we live in.
We know what you’re thinking. Where is The Umbrella Company? Or Green Lantern? Or that other group you thought would make the list. Not satisfied, leave a comment!
